As summer starts to wind down we hope everyone is getting ready for falling leaves and cooler weather. September is an exciting month at our Elkhorn store, filled with fun events and opportunities to restore or redesign your favorite jewelry.

September Birthstone: Sapphire
Sapphire – The Gem of Royalty
One of the most diverse and sought after gemstones; Sapphire is known as the gemstone of royalty adorning the crowns of nobility for centuries. According to the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), Sapphires were discovered in Kashmir around 1881 when a landslide high in the Himalayas exposed a large pocket of velvety “cornflower” blue crystals. As the spectacular sapphires began to appear farther south, the Maharaja of Kashmir – and his army – took control of the new locality. From 1882 to 1887, thousands of large, beautiful crystals were recovered. The stones faceted from these crystals established Kashmir sapphire’s reputation as one of the world’s most coveted gems.
Sapphires symbolizes romance, fidelity, and the soul, making it a meaningful gift. It is also the gemstone for the 5th and 45th wedding anniversaries.

Our second annual pearl event is coming up this month! Purchase 4 pearls and get the 5th one complementary. Join us and our pearl stringer at our Elkhorn store to have your pearls strung in house. Stop by or call ahead to place your pearl order.
